The Olympic Sports Centre is the centrepiece of 2005 China National Games and covers an area of 89.6 hectares and a total construction area of about 401,000 m2 with a total investment of about 4 billion RMB. At the time of construction, the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre became the second largest sports stadium in the world after the Sydney Olympic Stadium. The Nanjing Olympic Centre has a capacity of 60,000 seats.

Windtech Consultants carried out detailed wind tunnel studies including a roof cladding pressure study. The wind loads on the roof structure study were analysed using the advanced Load Response Correlation technique. This technique provides optimum efficiency in the structure as well as provides a robust prediction of the most critical load combinations.
