CTBUH 2017 Session Spotlight
Ground Plane Environmental Considerations
In addition to the study of the impact of new developments on environmental wind conditions at street level, Windtech Consultants also provides detailed analysis of the potential impact of solar reflectance from the building facade. This includes both the specular reflectance of visible light and thermal reflectance. The specular solar light reflectance potentially impact driver visibility resulting in a potential safety hazard while extreme cases cases of thermal reflectance can result in damage to property or injuries to people.
Aaron Lefcovitch, one of Windtech’s experts in the study of Solar Reflectivity impacts from buildings will be presenting on this topic at the upcoming CTBUH Conference in Sydney. Aaron’s presentation will outline the current best techniques that help us understand the scope and impact of both Solar Visible Light and Solar Heat reflectance. The presentation will also include examples of practical ways to mitigate any negative consequences that a tower might have on a city’s ground plane.
