A wind tunnel study of the structural loads and building motion was undertaken by Windtech for this 36-storey tower structure with a distinctive spire. Pressure coefficients derived from the wind tunnel measurements were combined with regional meteorological data and the structure dynamic properties to obtain a set of load cases to be used in the structural design and to assess the occupants’ comfort due to building acceleration and rotational velocities.
Other studies were carried out including a façade pressure study and analysis of the potential for water sloshing in the pools located in the top third of the tower. The façade pressure study enabled the identification of any pressure “hot spots” located on the buildings façade, allowing an optimal design of the cladding over the entire envelope.
