DSA Engenharia – Infinity Tower, Caldas Novas – Brazil
Windtech provided the wind engineering services for the 181-metre-high residential tower in Caldas Novas, Brazil. The wind studies carried out included a wind-induced structural loads & building motion study and a façade cladding pressure study. To perform these studies, Windtech conducted a detailed wind climate analysis for Caldas Novas region, and combined the wind data with pressure coefficients derived from wind tunnel test to obtain wind loads to be applied to the structural frame and wind pressure values to design the façade cladding and associated fixings. The structural wind loads were calculated using the High Frequency Pressure Integration (HFPI) technique, which enables an accurate determination of the wind loads and equivalent static load cases. Occupant comfort due to building motion was assessed by comparing the acceleration and rotational velocities of the building with appropriated comfort criteria. Additionally, Windtech analysed the potential for water sloshing in the various pools of the Infinity Tower.
