Windtech Consultants conducted the Structural Loads and Building Motion Studies using the High Frequency Pressure Integration Technique (HFPI) on the tallest tower in the development. The studies enabled an accurate determination of the wind loads on the structure. The occupant comfort due to building motion was assessed through the comparison of the acceleration and rotational velocities of the tower against different published criteria. A Façade Cladding Pressure Study was also undertaken to determine the cladding design pressures, allowing the façade engineer to optimise the design of the façade over the building envelope. For the thin aluminium profiles in the main façades, a specific study was carried out to determine the design wind loads by combining the wind speeds measured in the wind tunnel with appropriate drag coefficients.

A Pedestrian Wind Environment Study was undertaken using CFD simulations in order to identify areas of the development (i.e. leisure areas on the ground level and balconies of the two towers) subjected to adverse wind conditions. Ameliorative measures such as trees, shrubs, permeable walls, etc were proposed in consultation with the client.
