Cunard, 1325 Lower Water Street, Halifax
Windtech undertook the wind tunnel testing for 1325 Lower Water Street in Halifax to provide the project team with façade cladding pressures. This impressive property on the Halifax waterfront was developed by Southwest Properties and will feature 235 residential units, two amenity terraces, a rooftop pool and harbour side retail.
The wind tunnel study model of the tower was fitted with a total of 436 pressure sensors spread across the external façade. The net pressures acting on the main building façade were determined from the measured external pressures combined with internal pressures determined by local code.
For those areas where values were found to be lower than the corresponding values determined by the NBCC:2015 (National Building Code of Canada), the designer then had the option of applying a lower-bound threshold of 80% of the NBCC code values.
