Wind Study – CFD Analysis by Leading Wind Engineers

Riverside

The Riverside Museum in Glasgow is a celebrated architectural landmark and home to the city’s Museum of Transport and Travel. Designed by renowned architect Zaha Hadid, the structure sits dramatically along the River Clyde and has drawn international acclaim for its bold, angular form and sweeping zinc-clad roof.

As a trusted wind engineer, Windtech Consultants delivered tailored wind studies to improve the building’s rainwater
management and façade performance. Our team provided two critical wind assessments:

      • CFD Gutter Efficiency Analysis: Windtech performed .advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling to evaluate the gutter system’s ability to manage high volumes of rainwater under varied wind conditions. This wind study was crucial in assessing overflow risks and the long-term functionality of the drainage infrastructure on this architecturally complex roofscape.
      • Wind-Driven Rain Study: A detailed wind study was conducted to understand how rain is distributed across the façade and roof under wind influence. The analysis identified potential points of water ingress and informed proactive strategies for mitigating moisture exposure, which is key for protecting the museum’s structural integrity.

By leveraging over 30 years of experience in wind engineering, Windtech provided actionable insights that helped the project team enhance weather resilience and future-proof the museum’s façade systems.
