Pedestrian Microclimate Study The Hippodrome, Leicester Square, London, UK

Computational Fluid Dynamics & Dynamic Thermal Modelling Walthamstow Granada, London, UK

Located in the London Borough of Westminster, The Hippodrome Casino is home to London’s exciting live gaming and entertainment scene. Known for its rich history and modern appeal, this landmark venue attracts visitors from across the globe.

To ensure visitor safety and comfort, Windtech conducted a comprehensive Pedestrian Microclimate Study to assess wind conditions in and around The Hippodrome Casino site. Leveraging Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques, Windtech conducted detailed simulations to analyse the wind environment. This study evaluated ground-level wind conditions and extended its scope to the casino’s upper terraces and elevated areas.

The findings from the Pedestrian Wind Environment Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) study were critical in determining how wind interacted with the built environment. The wind analysis ensured that the Pedestrian Wind Microclimate conditions adhered to strict Wind Comfort and Safety guidelines. This process helped confirm that all areas, including elevated spaces, provided a safe, functional, and enjoyable environment for visitors, regardless of the weather conditions.

By addressing these Wind Comfort factors, Windtech’s wind study played a key role in enhancing the Hippodrome Casino’s ability to offer a world-class experience in a wind-safe and comfortable setting for all who visit.
