The Exchange TRX, Kuala Lumpur

The Exchange TRX is a 17-acre retail-led development that will be delivered by a joint venture between Lendlease (60%) and TRX City (40%) a wholly owned subsidiary of the Malaysian Ministry of Finance.

The focal point of the development will be The Exchange, a vibrant shopping, dining, leisure and entertainment destination with a 10-acre public park offering a range of different leisure facilities.

Windtech Consultants assisted throughout the various design stages of the project, in one instance using the latest technology in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to assess outdoor pollution(CO and NOx) and odor dispersion. The various flues and stacks were modelled in a simulation of the dispersion of pollutants throughout the site, which also took into account the influence of the site wind conditions.

A combined analysis including HVAC exhaust flues from boilers, façade louvres (including natural and mechanical ventilation sources) was conducted. Wind flow and ambient environmental conditions including temperature, and humidity on a peak day where used. This allowed ISO surface volumes of pollution concentration to be analysed for specific wind and environmental conditions.

From the results of the analysis, precise mitigation recommendations could be formulated to ensure the NationalAmbient Air Quality Standards (NAAAQS) and World Health Organisation (WHO) Standards were met.
